Marvellous July to Sept purchases...

Dear friends, I have been extremely busy with the new school term and only have the time now to make a photo update. Here are more marvellous treasures...

Alteration of my Reproduction Lost Battalions German M42 tunic. Yes, the tunic shrank a bit and I needed Virignia Bergmann from On The March in the USA for help. She skillfully adjusted the size of the tunic and I requested her to put on silver buttons and 'upgraded' the rank to be SS-Scharfueher. Check out the new tabs and boards. Received mid-August 2010.

Assorted Reproduction Japanese WW2 items - Purchased two rubber prop waterbottles from the film 'Windtalkers', IJA infantryman rifle pouch and belt set, NCO sword belt and an original Hokobukuro bag. Sweet! Will display the laid out contents in a future update. Received mid-August 2010.

'Warriors of Imperial Japan' reference book - Simon from Hong Kong was kind to inform me of this new book and I got one from him. I think it's not available in Singapore yet at this point in time. Received mid-August 2010.

Reproduction Waffen SS Dot'44 tunic - It's the darker print tunic on the right. I would say that my 1944 Militaria tunic on the left is much much better than it in colour accuracy, material feel and construction. Received Mid August 2010.




Original German WW1 ammo pouch - I needed another one of these to accompany my other pouch to make them a perfect pair. Marker marked and dated '1916'. Received Mid-august 2010.

Reproduction WW1 German M1910 Enlisted men's tunic - I finally got my dream tunic! It has that (reenacting) been there look and smell! The only shortcoming is that the previous owner cut off a bit of the skirt material. Now I have to source for additional material and send it for repair. =-( Who knows... I might just reserve this tunic for my mannequin and purchase another one. Received mid-September 2010.

Original German WW1 books - I would say these are post war books (early 1920s) that describes about WW1. Plus the purchase came with three original WW1 Austrian Army maps and one group photo. Received Mid-September 2010.


Thought that this cartoon of the small German soldier was soooo cute!

Original German WW2 wristwatch - This recently arrived from Poland. The seller has restored and polished the casing and mechanism but left the watch face in its original condition. It is marked DH with a serial number to denote military use. Look at the crisp detail. Overall, an excellent piece! Received mid-September 2010.

Original Singapore Armed Forces and National Cadet Corps insignia - This is a nice mixture of various brass and plated insignia which I purchased from an Australian eBay seller. How this wound up there is beyond me. Well, I bought it for the curved Singapura insignia for me to add on to my 1970s Temasek Green uniform as the shoulder title. Now all I need is another one for the other shoulder. Received mid-August 2010.

Reproduction WW2 US field gear - Bought this when Atthefront had their usual sale. Decided to try these from the 'economy gear' department to test their durability and it performed nicely to my expectations even with loads within. Bought an ecomony 10 pocket cartridge belt, musette bag, suspenders and a 'Made in USA' M1924 First Aid Pouch which is shown in the photo below. Received mid-August 2010.
